Hybrid Carbonated Engineered Water as EOR Solution for Oil-Wet Carbonate Formation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carbonated water has proven advantages over conventional CO2 injection in terms of arresting free mobility, low-pressure injection, lower volume requirement, and higher efficiency. The term “engineered water” is designated to selective ion-spiked with the advantage ion-exchange reactions rock minerals releasing trapped oil. This article investigated synergic effect dissolved engineered for oil recovery understanding inner mechanisms. Recovery efficiencies were evaluated through coreflood studies, which revealed that hybrid could recover 6–10% more than about 3% carbonated water. HP-HT pendant-drop studies show insignificance IFT reduction. Wettability change from wet near-water attributed as a significant factor. dissolution Ca2+ Mg2+ deposition SO42− observed coreflooding may have contribution recovery. Pore enlargement evidenced NMR-PSD NMR-ICP results support this claim. study confirmed EWI-CWI technique be promising EOR method, eliminating requirement high-pressure problems gravity segregation, early breakthrough CO2. It can also an effective solution, providing cost addition environmental benefits sequestration.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Imaging of oil layers, curvature and contact angle in a mixed- wet and a water-wet carbonate rock

We have investigated the effect of wettability of carbonate rocks on the morphologies of remaining oil after sequential oil and brine injection in a capillary-dominated flow regime at elevated pressure. The wettability of Ketton limestone was altered in situ using an oil phase doped with fatty acid which produced mixed-wet conditions (the contact angle where oil contacted the solid surface, mea...

An Experimental Study of Wetting Behavior and Surfactant EOR in Carbonates With Model Compounds

This study focuses on the mechanisms responsible for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) from fractured carbonate reservoirs by surfactant solutions, and methods to screen for effective chemical formulations quickly. One key to this EOR process is the surfactant solution reversing the wettability of the carbonate surfaces from less water-wet to more water-wet conditions. This effect allows the aqueous ...

Emulsion Formation for EOR Applications

In this study, the oil recovery potential of Smart Water in the Danish sector of the North Sea chalk reservoirs was investigated. A series of flooding experiments were conducted at reservoir conditions, and a spontaneous imbibition test was carried out at reservoir temperature. Reservoir cores were used along with crude oil samples from the North Sea and representative synthetic formation water...

Wettability Alteration of Oil- Wet and Water-Wet of Iranian Heavy Oil Reservoir by CuO Nanoparticles

The petroleum industry requires the best materials to reverse the rock wettability to water-wet state which give significantly improved oil recovery.Nanoparticles are suggested as enhanced oil recovery potential agents to decrease viscosity and alter the wettability of reservoir towards more water-wet. This study provides new insights into CuO nanoparticles effects on wett...
